Acer Android Phones Coming in Q4 As the Company Joins Open Handset Alliance

June 2nd, 2009 | by ThryStan |

Acer announced yesterday that it has officially joined the Open Handset Alliance, meaning that we’ll soon see Android-based devices with the company’s brand on them. The manufacturer claims that they will launch such handsets starting Q4 2009.

The Acer Android smartphones will have to break away from the E-Ten designs, that keep being recycled by the manufacturer since the company bought the creator of the Glofiish series. Right now there are over 40 members in the Open Handset Alliance, including carriers, handset manufacturers, software companies and semi conductor makers.

The recipe that will bring Acer profit and fame is simple: Android 2.0 (or later), a huge touchscreen, a versatile interface and a hot processor under the case. Will Acer deliver?
