Alcatel is still alive and to prove it, they’ve created a new handset, OT-S988W, a Windows Mobile device that strays from the low-end segment covered by this brand. We’re dealing with a smartphone that runs Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional and packs a sliding QWERTY keyboard.
The new Alcatel phone supports quad-band GSM connectivity, UMTS 2100 MHz and it’ll soon hit China via China Unicom. A quick peak at the device’s specs list reveals features like a 3.2 inch touchscreen display with a 240 x 400 pixels resolution, Wi-Fi, A-GPS, a 3.5mm headset jack, Bluetooth 2.1 and a 528 MHz Qualcomm CPU.
256MB of RAM and 256MB of ROM are also on board, in a 110 x 55 x 15.1mm package, weighing 124 grams. Will this handset reach Europe? We don’t know yet, but we’ll let you know as soon as the info gets out.
