Alcatel OT-707 and OT-800, Touchscreen and QWERTY on the Cheap Side
Alcatel is famous for its affordable entry-level handsets and the company has now entered the touchscreen and QWERTY phone market, but still keeping the devices’ price tags.
Alcatel OT-707 is the manufacturer’s first touchscreen phone and it’s accompanied by OT-800, that’s also a premiere: the first handset to use a full QWERTY keyboard.
OT-707 comes with a rounded case and a 2.3 inch TFT touchscreen display (240 x 320 pixels), a 1.3 megapixel camera, 10 MB of internal memory and a microSD slot (cards of up to 2 GB). There’s also Bluetooth with A2DP support on the specs list, a music player, FM radio and support for dual band GSM/GPRS connectivity.
The phone’s battery lasts 8 hours in talk mode and its pricing is said to be below $126, which would be great for any pocket. OT-800 uses Opera Mini and features FM radio with RDS, a 2 megapixel camera and a 320 x 240 pixels display. The QWERTY phone supports tri band GSM/GPRS/EDGE connectivity and it should cost around $120.
