Asustek Prepares for Android Phone Launch

Another phone running on Google’s Android platform will be released at the beginning of next year from Asustek Computer. The device will be available under this brand on the Taiwan market, but might also be available at a global level in the shape of customized versions.
As a matter of fact, Asustek has big and concrete plans for the future. They plan to gradually replace EMP-based handsets with handset platforms from Qualcomm and Marvell. Moreover, they want to also release a 3G mobile phone using Qualcomm’s dual-core solutions in the beginning of 2009, although it is not sure whether this will be the Android handset.
Asustek expects to reach a number of 40 000 sold mobile phones by the end of the year. Expectations will surely increase once they will add Android operating system to their offer, as the platform has received extremely positive reactions from the customers until now.
