  • We’ve being invaded by 1080p handsets it seems… Back in 2011 there were about two 720p screen handsets around this time of the year and now I can already count about 5 models with 5 inch Full HD screens ready to come out on the market. One of them is the Sharp Aquos SH930W, a midrange 1080p display handset, that has been reviewed early by the folks of Mobile Review.

We’re dealing here with a device that packs 32 GB of storage, no microSD card slot and the reason to call it midrange is the CPU: a dual core 1.5 GHz Snapdragon S3 chipset. LTE is also dropped, since Sharp is trying to cut the cost here. SH930W is supposed to debut in Russia first, with a price adapted to the local market. It will debut there in late November for about $694, which is probably $100 or $150 less than you’ll pay for any 1080p smartphone at the end of 2012.

The tests done by Mobile Review reveal that the handset’s display and the underpowered CPU don’t work very well together. Apparently, the phone chokes in 1080p video playback and some 3D games. The good battery life is the one praised here and the good camera, plus the price, that’s the conclusion. The design is also pretty pleasant and the 8 megapixel camera samples are actually good, as shown in the full review in our source link below.
