Asus R50A UMPC Is Hot, Really Expensive!

  • It’s high time to start searching for the perfect Christmas gift and one candidate might be the latest Asus UMPC, R50A featuring an Atom processor (1.33 GHz) and Intel Poulsbo chipset. The device is available for no less than 1475 EUR and comes with 1024 MB RAM and a 32GB SSD. Among its specs we must mention a GPS (plus maps for the entire Europe), WiFi B/G, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR and 3G HSDPA support.

    The highlight of Asus R50A might be its display, a 5.6 inches touchscreen, which also replaces the UMPC’s keyboard. It supports a 1024 x 600 pixels resolution and uses an on-screen pointer for easier navigation plus a joystick.

    The UMPC’s feature list also includes 3 USB ports, a card reader, 2 cameras (2 megapixel and 3 megapixel for videoconferencing), 3 microphones, video output, stereo speaker and Windows Vista.
