Rybarczyk Francois imagined a concept of a HTC phone with an optional battery module that you can detach and charge separately. Thus, when you attach it to the handset you’ll give it the extra power it needs. He also imagined a future where we use no wires and you can simply plug in the phone to a power source, without requiring an extra wire. Here’s the device:

This HTC concept uses a magnesium unibody chassis and its design also involves a lower back side imprinted with an unique pattern, done by machining. This model looks a bit like the recently leaked HTC Edge quad core phone and it keeps the usual HTC lines and elegance. The design imagined this unit both with Windows Phone and Android, but I fancy the letter more, because of the way it integrates those capacitive keys. The idea of the battery module inserted into the phone is even more useful when you think of all those LTE smartphones that drain their batteries so fast.

Also, with all the wireless syncing going on, we’re one step away from getting rid of the USB cable, so why not get rid of it for good and simply plug the phone’s charging socket into the power source and get rid of other accessories such as charger and cables. What do you say?

After today’s news that RIM changed its co-CEOs for a new, single CEO I came across something that might define the future direction of the Canadian phone maker. I’m talking about the BlackBerry concept below, created by Johan Anastasiadis, a handset with a wrap around touch display, that looks very original and sleek.

This device sports an asymmetrical design and seems to runs a relative of the QNX OS, considering that multitasking area in the middle of the screen. I’m expecting a dual core 1.5GHz processor here, at least a 5MP camera, 16GB of storage, NFC, LTE and a good battery. This 2012 BlackBerry concept is the work of a person that’s a BlackBerry fan and has an MBA in the design field. This BlackBerry’s display includes the soft keys on the underside, that are used for gaming purpose, or for navigation.

As you can see, Gmail, BBM and Chrome are all installed and there’s a notifications area at the top, maybe one that slides down, like the one in Android, Symbian Belle and iOS 5. There’s also a hard button on board, used to take pictures or lock the screen, if you want. The creator of this RIM concept phone says that he included an artificial intelligence feature, that predicts the user’s next move and intention. What’s really cool is at the front and back camera are hidden under the display, that will also double as the flash for them.

Chris Youn envisioned two new interesting iPhone concepts, both with 3D displays. The more appealing one is the iPhone 6 with a 3D curved Super AMOLED screen and a hologram interface. This device is shown below and followed by the picture of an iPhone 5 design that may not be that impressive, but it still gets you thinking.

The iPhone 6 uses 3D sound and 3D hologram technology, on top of a 4.3 inch display and a curved chassis that radically changes the classic iPhone design. The resulting smartphone measure s8.49mm and uses a 3D TouchWiz UX, although I’m sure Samsung would objet strongly to that. Other specs include a dual core processor and possibly a very good camera, maybe even a 3D one. Moving on to the iPhone 5 concept created by Chris Youn, this one involves a 3D Crystal touchscreen, a 16 megapixel camera and a 2.6GHz processor. Here’s the device:

This iPhone 5 provides an incredible 24 hours of video playback, 52 hours of audio playback and measures only 0.38 inches in thickness. There’s also a bunch of nice looking speakers placed around the device, that actually look better to me than the handset. With designs such as these, Apple has a lot to think about if it wants to change the iPhone design…

Prashant Chandra created a very interesting Fujitsu laptop concept, that’s part of the Lifebook series and it’s seen as a 2013 product. As you can see, the handset is perfectly integrated into the laptop, as it’s inserted into a slot, just like a memory card would. Also, there’s a digital camera that attaches to the back of the laptop’s display.

The tablet is attached to the body of the Fujitsu Lifebook concept laptop through 16 pins and becomes the main virtual keyboard of the device. I guess that the handset can be used as the brain of the laptop, holding the CPU and part of the storage, while the tablet brings extra internal memory and input abilities, including the possibility to draw, doodle and sketch on the big touchpad-like mechanism that it becomes. Each of the gadgets can be used on its own without problems, which is pretty cool, since these models will bring all the content they generated back to the laptop once they’re attached.

The phone also serves as a music player and it shares hardware and data as soon as it’s plugged in, according to the creator of this hybrid. I wonder what the battery life is here and whether or not these gizmos share power between their batteries. This is certainly a doable project, since we possess the technology to create it, but is it worth the effort?

We’ve seen Nokia prototypes in The Dark Knight and Star Trek and maybe even a tablet from the Finns in Tron (the one from 2010), although that hasn’t been confirmed and now it’s time for yet another nifty product placement, this time in the movie Real Steel. The folks of Mobilissimo.ro are the ones who found the device. Set in 2020 and starring Hugh Jackman and a ton of robots, this movie shows us a glimpse of an interesting Nokia phone around the 4th minute in the film.

We’re dealing here with a handset that seems to combine the looks of the Nokia N9 with the N8, but its futuristic case stops us from seeing what the design of this phone is really like. We might actually be dealing with the N9 with a sci-fi layer of animation on top, but what really had me thinking was the set of capacitive buttons at the bottom of the screen. There are 5 of them and they really look a lot like Android material, so is Nokia really going to risk going that route?

However, the MeeGo/Symbian-like icons on the screen made me think that this is either MeeGo Harmattan 2.0 or Symbian Carla/Donna. There seems to be a more complex notification bar at the top, if I’m not mistaking. Videocalling is also shown in the movie and those capacitive buttons at the bottom are pretty clearly a Menu button, Forward, Back button and a Home button. What do you make of this? Will MeeGo adopt the Android capacitive buttons or will Symbian do it, after it copied the notification bar through Belle?

The guys of Concept Phones just partook in the biggest leak ever, after they received a picture that’s supposed to be the real render of the Samsung Galaxy S III posted by a Samsung employee on a Russian social networking service. Said service is called Vkontakte and the presumed insider is called Ivan Ilchenko, although I’d advise you to take all of this with a grain of salt…

The handset pictured here is identified as the Samsung GT-I9500 Universal aka the Samsung Galaxy S III. The render shows us an edge to edge 5 inch display and the Universal part means that the phone runs both Android and Bada OS, which makes the leak even less credible. We’re dealing with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich smartphone, that relies on a quad core Exynos 4412 processor (1.5GHz) and uses the TouchWiz 5.0 interface on top of Android 4.0.

Galaxy S III also comes with a 1280 x 720 pixel resolution, a stylus (that makes it sound fake again), HD Super AMOLED technology and a 12 megapixel camera with a LED flash and a Xenon flash. There’s also a 2 megapixel camera at the front, 32GB or 64GB of internal memory, a memory card slot, 4G LTE connectivity and NFC. I have to say that this design looks nice, but I fear it’s nothing more than a concept render…

A couple of years ago, the Nokia Morph concept was pretty much the best thing you could imagine for Nokia… Now this project is close to reality, as shown by the Finnish handset maker during Nokia World 2011, where they demoed the Nokia Kinetic prototype phone.

We’re dealing with a phone that uses a flexible display and supports flexing on the vertical and horizontal axis. The concept is shown in the video below in detail and you can see it bending and twisting as methods of controlling the UI, the music player or the zoom in a picture. No info on mass production and unless this a flexible AMOLED display from Samsung, we’re dealing with a new technology here.

Sony has also been working on something similar, but it would be nice to also see Nokia in the game with something new. A flexible phone has lots of advantages, one being that it’s theoretically unbreakable, but I wonder how a battery will fit these plans. And what about other fragile components such as flash memory, the RAM or the camera sensor?

Shihuzaan has created a brand new Nokia concept phone for the mynokiablog website and you can see below his work. This concept comes ahead of the Nokia World 2011 event, that will debut next Wednesday, on October 26th.

We’re dealing here with a handset that resembles the Sony Ericsson Satio a bit, plus it comes with a curved back and flat front side. Sharp corners are also here and the specs include an 8 megapixel Carl Zeiss camera, a 1.4GHz processor, a powerful GPU and 16/64GB of internal memory. NFC is also present and I guess that Windows Phone Mango is the OS of choice.

This phone might serve as an inspiration for future Nokia handsets with WP7, but it looks kind of bulky for the Finnish phone maker. As you can see, the touch buttons for WP7 interaction are included below the display, for a more comfortable experience.

This is the first time I’ve actually seen a real life handset made after the iPhone 5 leaks and renders…Of course, there are already a few iPhone 5 clones in China, but no one went through the trouble of cutting an aluminum block for them. This is where Giga Netzwerk from Germany comes into play and creates a wonderful prototype.

While we wait for the big iPhone 5 launch on October 4th, we spot this beautiful 4 inch iPhone, that sports a back design very similar to the iPad 2. Compared to the Samsung Galaxy S II, this handset is incredibly thin, even reaching as low as 5.3mm in its thinnest point. The shape is the classic teardrop we’ve seen in so many iPhone 5 concepts.

Add to that a beautifully integrated 4 inch display, a case made with the aid of solid aluminum treated with glass pearls, a rounded design and an oval touch home button. The result is a device wider than the iPhone 4, packing a display with 960 x 5540 pixel resolution and a dual core Apple A5 CPU plus 1GB of RAM. At the back there should be an 8 megapixel camera, but that aspect hasn’t been finalized. Beautiful? And now let’s see the real thing!

With all the recent talk about the Samsung Nexus Prime, we’re getting really curious about the design of the upcoming Nexus handset. Federico Ciccarese has his own opinion on the handset, so he created the Google Nexus 3 concept, shown below. Notice the clean UI that belongs to Android Ice Cream Sandwich.

This model is very similar to the Nexus S, albeit a little less curved. However, the curved display is there and the entire device looks skinny and sleek. Android Ice Cream Sandwich look glassy, just like we heard it will and keeps a bit of the Gingerbread usability, while tweaking the menus a bit. Blue seems to be the key color here, just like on Honeycomb and I sure hope we’ll get customizable app drawers, as rumors are claiming.

And now it’s time for some specs guessing: 16GB internal memory, dual core 1.5GHz CPU, 1 GB of RAM, an 8 megapixel camera and perhaps even LTE connectivity. Right now this model looks pretty fragile, but it’s a mere concept, so the real thing might be more sturdy or at least sturdy-looking.
