  • NTT DoCoMo recently showcased a cool concept phone made out of wood and bearing the name of Touch Wood. We’re dealing with a prototype that’s made out of the surplus cypress wood of the trees that are part of the trimmed down forests, a process that takes place in order to keep them healthy.

Touch Wood is an environmentally-friendly phone, the result of NTT DoCoMo’s cooperation with Olympus Corporation, Sharp and the reforestation project “More Trees”. No artificial paints were used while making the phone, so it’ll keep its fresh scent of wood, thus being an organic machine.

The prototype will be available for everyone to touch during Telecom World 2009, talking place in Geneva, Switzerland, from October 5 to 9. Musician Ryuichi Sakamoto headed this project, while photographer Mikiya Takimoto inspired the interface of the phone.
