Dell hasn’t exactly been in the spotlight lately, aside from the statement that they’re thinking about Windows 8 tablets. Now they resurfaced in China with the Streak Pro handset with Android. Don’t mistake this for a 5 incher Galaxy Note rival, but rather your average 4.3 inch smartphone with reasonable specs.

In case you’re wondering why Dell is focusing on Asia nowadays, know that the company is happy with the development of technology right there and with the large amount of customers. Dell Streak Pro has little chance of making it on a market where HTC, Samsung and Apple rule and the best proof is the failure of the Dell Venue Pro Windows Phone. That was a cool device, but people had better alternatives and better prices, so it kicked the bucket. Dell Streak was an interesting device when it came out, with the 5 inch display and all, but Android 1.6 and lack of updates killed it.

Well, this time the Dell Streak Pro is here to make up for past sins, packing 3G, a dual core 1.5GHz processor, a 4.3 inch display with 960 x 540 pixel resolution and gorilla Glass protection. The design seems a bit bulky, but for these specs and a decent price tag, I’d take this device over a double priced HTC any day now.

Although for a while it looked like Dell was going to retire out of the tablet and smartphone biz, after the Venue Pro model and its Android-based brother, now they’re back with a new handset. Dubbed the Streak Pro 101DL, this phone brings some dual core power in the mix and it can be seen in the picture below.

When it comes to specs we’re talking about a MSM8260 chipset found on board, a 1.5GHz dual core CPU, a 4.3 inch Super AMOLED display with qHD resolution and Gorilla Glass protection plus an 8 megapixel camera. There’s also a 1.3MP front camera and the Android experience on this model will receive a tweak courtesy of Dell Stage 2.0 UI.

Rumors say that we might see Android Ice Cream Sandwich on this baby, although that’s yet to be confirmed. The handset comes with a 10.3mm diagonal, it weighs 140 grams and it’s expected to launch in Japan first starting January 2012. And now here’s some hands on action with the product:

It seems the Brits are missing the best WP7 device again and we’re talking about the Dell Venue Pro smartphone here. This delay is not the first, not for Britain and not for Europe, just like Nokia was doing with some of its handsets in the States. In the case of the Dell smartphone there’s not even an explanation for the delay.

Last we heard, a MMS problem was involved and as far as the REAL launch date is concerned, the folks of Clove.co.uk claim that the handset will be on stock in early March. This is not less than 5 months after the US launch, which is huge for any product, even belonging to the high end segment. Let’s hope that at least the device will land with the WP7 update on, if it gets released till then.

During the Bangalore Fashion Week, Dell launched the Venue Pro Windows Phone 7 handset in India, one of the best WP7 phones on the market. The design is the one that makes this device unique, since this is the only sliding portrait QWERTY handset with the new mobile OS made by Microsoft on board.

The handset goes for $796 locally, a huge price for any country, especially when you can find it in the States for $449. The device comes with a 5MP camera and 8GB and we’re sure you can do better with that amount of money. It will even buy you a Motorola Xoom slate you’ll have money left over for an iPhone.

Dell has partnered with Indian carrier Aircel to provide special plans for the phone, that include 1GB of data per month for one year and 2190 minutes of local talk time, plus 7300 SMS messages.

The result was the Dell Venue, pictured below and running Froyo. The physical QWERTY keyboard on the original model is gone, but the specs of this phone are pretty good.

Dell Venue comes with a 4.1 inch WVGA AMOLED capacitive multitouch display, an 8MP camera and it uses a 1GHz QSD 8250 CPU to run Android 2.2. The display supports a 800 x 480 pixel resolution and the whole device weighs 164 grams, with the 1400mAh battery on board. You can get the handset unlocked for $500 from Dell’s site and know that it ships on February 18th.

Dell Venue Pro impressed everyone with its form factor and features, being one of the most liked Windows Phone 7 devices, but Dell won’t stop here. Their partnership with Microsoft seems to be flourishing, since the company decided to make more handsets running the same OS.

The info comes via a tweet from a BBC reporter, claiming that Dell will create even more WP7 handsets, thanks to huge demand for Venue Pro units. Michael Dell is apparently quoted as saying that the demand is too high for the company’s supplies, so this is good news… if you have Dell stocks. Let’s just hope they won’t forget about Android completely and maybe bring something Ice Cream Sandwich-worthy at MWC 2011.

We wouldn’t mind seeing a modified Venue Pro with Android, but we’ve learned about something similar weeks ago.

Not only the Dell Streak 7 was spotted these days at CES, but also a brand new smartphone, that was also seen in Korea last month: Dell Venue. This Android 2.2 smartphone uses a curved Gorilla Glass display and has some pretty appealing specifications, that you’ll find out after the break.

Aside from including ActiveSync, a Swype keyboard and Quickoffice, the handset brings forth this hardware:

CPU: 1GHz

Display: 4.1 inch AMOLED

Camera: 8MP

Connectivity: GSM

OS: Android 2.2 Froyo, plus Dell Stage

Dell Stage is the company’s own software layer that complements Froyo and adds a feature here and there. Sadly, we don’t yet have the entire specs list of the device, a price or launch date, but they’re coming, possibly from CES.

If you’re looking to get a taste of the Windows Phone 7 device with the most interesting form factor, Dell Venue Pro is the smartphone for you. Ready to debut on November 8th through Microsoft and through Dell on November 15th, the device was recently rumored to also get an Android version.

Sadly, no official price was mentioned till now and we learn that the Microsoft channel possibly includes some partners of the Redmond giant, like retail stores. Meanwhile, Dell sells its smartphone directly from Dell.com. Folks who have had the chance to play with the Venue Pro (like the lucky guys in the video below), mention that this handset is highly responsive and its QWERTY keyboard is impressive.

The appealing Windows Phone 7 phone is an excellent alternative for those who want to pass on the HTC HD7 and its big 4.3 inch screen. Here’s the hands on experience with the Dell WP7 handset:

Word’s out that the Dell handset might be launched in an Android version, that will debut “sometime in the future”.

No date or price was mentioned yet, but PC World seems sure about this device. Venue Pro is a 4.1 inch capacitive touchscreen smartphone, that also features a sliding portrait QWERTY keyboard, quite an unique form factor for Windows Phone 7 and Android for that matter.

It’s going to be hard to choose between the Gingerbread and WP7 versions of the handset… or not.

Remember Dell Lightning? Well, the handset’s back and got turned into Dell Venue Pro, the most promising Windows Phone 7 smartphone unveiled today. Although we only managed to get hold of a partial specs list, we saw Engadget’s fun time with the device and it certainly is a great piece of work. The format is a tad unusual though: portrait slider with a huge touchscreen.

Dell Venue Pro packs a 4.1 inch WVGA AMOLED touchscreen display, based on Gorilla Glass technology and supporting multitouch. Design-wise, the handset reminds us of the Dell Thunder, an Android-based model. Engadget mentions that Venue Pro comes with rounded chrome sides and a grippy feel, plus a responsive touch-sensitive buttons.

You also get a 5MP camera with flash, a great slide out QWERTY keyboard, that’s a bit similar to the one on Droid 2 (as far as buttons are concerned) and a Snapdragon CPU. This baby will be coming to T-Mobile in time for the holidays and also through Dell’s retailing partners. Apparently, the phone won’t reach AT&T, since T-Mobile is the exclusive partner for the WP7 handset.
