Prashant Chandra created a very interesting Fujitsu laptop concept, that’s part of the Lifebook series and it’s seen as a 2013 product. As you can see, the handset is perfectly integrated into the laptop, as it’s inserted into a slot, just like a memory card would. Also, there’s a digital camera that attaches to the back of the laptop’s display.

The tablet is attached to the body of the Fujitsu Lifebook concept laptop through 16 pins and becomes the main virtual keyboard of the device. I guess that the handset can be used as the brain of the laptop, holding the CPU and part of the storage, while the tablet brings extra internal memory and input abilities, including the possibility to draw, doodle and sketch on the big touchpad-like mechanism that it becomes. Each of the gadgets can be used on its own without problems, which is pretty cool, since these models will bring all the content they generated back to the laptop once they’re attached.

The phone also serves as a music player and it shares hardware and data as soon as it’s plugged in, according to the creator of this hybrid. I wonder what the battery life is here and whether or not these gizmos share power between their batteries. This is certainly a doable project, since we possess the technology to create it, but is it worth the effort?

Fujitsu is usually known as a brand that launches phones in Japan, taking down records of thickness and incorporating top notch cameras and other hardware. Now they also appeared at CES 2012 with some waterproof and slim tablets and phones from the Arrows series. It appears that their direction now involves reaching out into the US smartphone market, since Japan is no longer enough.

Senior Executive Vice President Hideyuki Saso said in a recent interview at CES that Fujitsu sees North America as a priority market. The company is also in the process of gaining full control of a mobile joint venture that involved a cooperation with Toshiba in the phone segment. Fujitsu makes Windows Phone devices as well as Android ones and it doesn’t seem to have decided which area to tackle better. They want to do something different than the other rivals and find a perfect niche that will make them appealing the States.

In the meantime Nokia is also trying to get back some of its older fame in the USA, where it was big at some point in the past, but since Symbian became a symbol of obsolete days, the local market share of the Finns declined. For now Fujitsu has to offer two unique aspects: very thin smartphones and waterproof technology for all of its devices. I wonder what they’ll come up with next…

Fujitsu was talked about recently for their very slim 6.7mm smartphone, but that record in waistline was surpassed by Huawei this week, when they unveiled at CES a thinner handset. Now, Fujitsu must innovate in other areas, that’s why they also brought at CES a bunch of waterproof phones from the Arrows series.

These models are also dust resistant and they have pretty reasonable specs. I’m curious if “waterproof” here means that you can splash the phone a bit, or that you can drown it in the bath tub. The smartphone measures 10.1mm in thickness, features a 1.2GHz dual core processor, Android 2.3 as the OS and a 4.3 inch HD 720p display also included among the specs. The usual Bluetooth, WiFi and 1GB of RAM are also available here, plus 8GB of ROM and a microSD card slot.

The main appeal of the device is a 13.1 megapixel camera that does great photos, thanks to an Exmor sensor that gets rid of the possible noise. Quick shooting is also available on the photo side of things. The device comes in black, white, blue and pink and maybe it will leave Japan and land in the USA and Europe at some point.

Fujitsu came at CES 2012 in Las Vegas not fearing the defeat against Huawei, that stripped them of the title for “the thinnest phone in the world”. To compensate, the company brought a Fujitsu Arrows quad core Tegra 3 phone, that’s shown below in action courtesy of Engadget, that detailed its experience with the prototype.

This model comes with LTE connectivity, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and a HD display with a 4.6 inch diagonal. There’s also a 13.1 megapixel camera at the back of the phone, with an ISO setting of up to 25.600. This handset will also be showcased at MWC 2012 next month, when we’ll maybe get more info about its branding for sale and the date it’s scheduled to launch on in Europe (if ever). As shown in the image below, the phone is able to connect to a HDTV and joystick and it relies on HDMI and DLNA to stream content to other devices.

I’m pretty sure this smartphone will only be available in Japan and its maker said that it will come with some health and cosmetic applications on board. The Android experience on the device will be customized through the NX interface applied on top of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Let’s see what else Fujitsu brought to Las Vegas…

If you want a handset that’s thinner than the 7.1 mm Motorola Droid RAZR, then the answer comes straight from Japan, courtesy of the Fujitsu Arrows ES IS12F model, shown below. This device went on sale today and it offers a stunning waistline of only 6.7mm. The handset first appeared at the FCC in November and now it’s available in Japanese shops.

This ultrathin smartphone comes with decent specifications and a design that frankly disappoints me. What’s the deal with that huge upper bezel and the bad button placement? Apparently, this model runs stock Android 2.3 Gingerbread (that may be a blessing after all) and it comes with a single core 1.4 GHz processor, 512MB of RAM, a 4 inch AMOLED display, a 5 megapixel camera and NFC connectivity, plus the usual TV tuner that’s so popular in Japan.

Gorilla Glass protection and a waterproof case are also in the mix. The price tag of this anorexic smartphone is $750 and we have no idea if it will come to the USA and Europe anytime soon, but odds are it won’t… Would you buy one?

KDDI, a major Japanese carrier has announced that it will be selling what’s now the world’s thinnest handset: Fujitsu Arrows ES IS12F, that’s a mere 6.7mm in thickness. January 2012 is when this device will arrive to the local market and odds are very slim that we’ll ever see it on the international market.

There’s another 6.7mm handset out there, the NTT DoCoMo version of this phone, that comes with a single core processing, a 5 megapixel camera with image stabilizing technology and Android 2.3 Gingerbread as the OS. Also on board there’s a 4 inch 480 x 800 AMOLED display and a case that’s water resistant. Other local features include the One-Seg digital TV tuner and IR receiver.

This anorexic phone will be available in red and black on KDDI, while NTT DoCoMo will sell it in black alone. On the international market Motorola Droid RAZR is still the thinnest smartphone, at 7.1mm, but I have a feeling that the game will change once the Samsung Galaxy S III is announced at MWC 2012…

Fujitsu has done again, so only days after unveiling the world’s thinnest smartphone, the company offers the ladies a very appealing handset, one that tells the damzels to sit straight and keep a healthy diet. I’m talking about the Fujitsu Arrows Kiss F-03D, a ladyphone that tells the user to keep a good posture and eat more vegetables.

In the US the most popular phone for ladies is the HTC Rhyme, but in Japan things are different, since the Fujitsu Arrows Kiss F-03D makes a solid claim to the title. The device comes with a function called Beauty Body Clinic, that monitors the user’s posture and orders her to stand up straighter. Also, there’s an app called Sukkiri Alarm, the wakes the handset’s owner up when it “thinks” it’s time to rise and shine.

And then there’s a pedometer app for “health maintenance”, that provides advice about eating habits, such as adding a salad to your KFC and more. The specs of the handset aren’t bad at all and they include a single core 1.4GHz Qualcomm MS8255 processor, a 3.7 inch WVGA screen, an 8.1 megapixel camera at the back, OneSeg mobile TV and mobile wallet payments. The handset will be available staring November 25th in Japan only.

Remember when the Motorola Droid RAZR was the thinnest handset ever? Well, now the 7.1mm champion has a worthy rival, one made by Fujitsu and reaching an incredible 6.7mm waistline. Meet the Fujitsu ARROWS μ F-07D model, pictured below and packing some reasonable specs, as shown after the break:

The Fujtisu smartphone is an Android device, one that certainly cuts from the fat gut of the 9.3mm iPhone 4. The only way to beat the 6.7mm waistline is for either Samsung or NEC to launch a new handset. The Galaxy S III might be a record breaker, but considering the quad core CPU inside and innovation, it’s hard to stuff all of that in a thin handset.

Also, I must say that the Fujitsu ARROWS μ F-07D doesn’t cheat like the Droid RAZR does, with its bulge that includes the camera. This Asian device is a more uniform handset, with a mere 2mm variation from its thickest to thinnest point. The specs of the phone include a Qualcomm MSM8255 processor at 1.4GHz, 512MB of RAM, 1GB of internal memory and Android 2.3 as the OS. There’s also a 4 inch WVGA display on board and a 5 megapixel camera. Expect a NTT DoCoMo release of the smartphone in 2012.

Here we have another fine example of a 720p display phone, known as the Arrow Z and made by Fujitsu Toshiba. We’re dealing here with a dual core phone that uses a TI processor and comes with a 13 megapixel camera.

After the upgraded Galaxy S II with HD display that was announced recently, this is yet another HD handset that we’re dealing with and now the avalanche might start. HTC, Motorola and LG are all readying 720p display phones, that are all incoming. Back to the Arrow Z, this handset is waterproof and it comes in 3 color versions: white, black and fuchsia.

Its 1280 x 720 display measures 4.3 inches in diagonal and the specs of the smartphone also include a 1.3 megapixel front camera, 1GB RAM and 8GB of internal memory. There’s also IR, a digital TV tuner and Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread, that runs on a Texas Instruments OMAP4430 CPU at 1.2GHz. Sadly, this model will only debut in Japan in November, but we’re drooling in Europe, that’s for sure.

Fujitsu Toshiba IS12T is the very first Windows Phone Mango smartphone, one that also brings another premiere to the platform: a 13.2 megapixel camera. Previously rumored and pictured weeks ago, this device will only be available in Japan for now, but we hope to see in Europe and the US as well.

We’re dealing with waterproof smartphone with a 3.7 inch WVGA display, a Qualcomm MSM8655 CPU (the same as the one on Incredible 2 and Thunderbolt) with undisclosed frequency. This model will go on sale in September on KDDI’s au network. Other specs include 32GB of flash memory, Bluetooth 2.1 and WiFi.

Also, you’ll get quite a bunch of color versions of this device, including the pinkish one pictured below. Will you get this first Mango OS handset? Or will you wait for that Samsung Galaxy S II lookalike with WP7 on board or maybe for the Nokia Sea Ray?
