Gigabyte GSmart G1310 is a Dual-SIM Android Phone

Gigabyte is preparing to launch a brand new Android phone, the GSmart G1310 Froyo unit. This handset has reasonable specifications, if you’re aiming for a mid-end handset. It’ll be available in champagne gold and pearl white.

GSmart G1310 will debut in Eastern Europe in Q1, bearing a price tag of 199 EUR and here’s the list of features you’ve all been waiting for:

CPU: Qualcomm MSM7225, 528MHz
Memory: 512MB ROM, 256MB RAM
Connectivity: Bluetooth 2.1, WiFi, GPS (aGPS support)
Others: digital compass

Gigabye GSmart Rola, One of Those Rare Android 2.2 Dual SIM Phones

Can’t really say if there is any other Android dual SIM phone out there, so this Gigabyte handset is a rare unit. The Gigabyte GSmart Rola is pictured below and it comes with Android 2.2 and some pretty appealing specifications, specially for the 175 euros you’ll be paying for it.

The device is expected on the market in early 2011 and we have to mention that Gigabyte also has a Windows Mobile 6.5 dual SIM phone in its portofolio, the GSmart S1205. Here’s what the Rola is all about:

Display: 3.2 inch, resistive WQVGA touchscreen
CPU: 528MHz
Memory: 512MB ROM, 256MB RAM, microSD card slot
Camera: 3MP, fixed focus
Connectivity: WiFi, quad band GSM, 3G, GPS, Bluetooth
Other features: FM radio, digital compass

The device will be available in early 2011.

Two New Gigabyte GSmart Handsets Get Detailed Unofficially: S1205 Cougar and G1305 Codfish

We’ve just come across two unannounced Gigabyte smartphones, showing their faces in Ukraine, the GSmart G1305 Codfish Android model and the WM 6.5 GSmart S1205 Cougar. The first is pictured below and it comes with quad band GSM connectivity, tri band HSDPA, as well and GPS.

GSmart G1305 Codfish also packs WiFi connectivity, a 3.2 inch HVGA display, 256 MB RAM and a 600 MHz Qualcomm MSM7227 processor. Moving on to the Windows Mobile unit, we learn that the Gigabyte GSmart S1205 Cougar is a bit more elegant than the Android model and it’s also a dual SIM handset, that you can see in the image below.

S1205 Cougar uses a 3.2 inch touch display, quad band GSM/GPRS/EDGE, WiFi, GPS, 128MB RAM and a 416MHz processor. We have no information on either device’s price or launch date.

Gigabyte Android Phone to Arrive in Late 2010, Images Available Till Now – Fake

Remember the leaked pictures showing the Gigabyte GSmart Android phone? They’re the ones shown below and it turns out that they’re actually fake, as pointed out by Matt from TraceyAndMatt, who has an inside connection at Gigabyte.

The company is working on an Android phone that will be announced in late 2010, if all goes well. Also, the Gigabyte source said that the prototypes look nothing like the handset above. The upcoming Gigabyte handsets are based on Windows Mobile and some even expect the Android versions to reach the market in 2011.

Gigabyte’s First Android Phone Gets Pictured Live

Gigabyte’s got a new member of the GSmart series coming, this time with Android on board and we’ve recently seen the device pictured live, courtesy of the folks of Mobile Review. This is not an impressive smartphone, but it specs are pretty decent, as you can find out after the break.

The phone runs Android 1.6, just like SE XPERIA X10 and it comes with a 528 MHz Qualcomm processor, a 2.8 inch QVGA display, a trackball, GPS and a 2 megapixel camera with autofocus. WiFi is also supported and the device uses 192MB RAM and 512MB ROM, plus a microSD card slot.

Sadly, the GSmart Android handset lacks 3G connectivity, but at least it features a 3.5mm audio jack. Expect it to hit the market in February or March, with a $300 price tag.

Gigabyte GSmart Android Phone Pictures Available

A couple of days ago, we found out that Gigabyte also wants a piece of the Android pie, so they set off to build a handset running Google’s OS. Now, the first mages of the phone have gone loose and you can see it pictured below.

Although the phone has no name yet, it’ll be part of the GSmart series and it’ll run Android 1.6. Also we learned that the Gigabyte device sports a trackball, measures 103 x 54 x 13.4mm and supports GSM/GPRS/EDGE connectivity. There’s also a 2.8 inch QVGA touch display on board, as well as an accelerometer, WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth 2.0 support, a microSD card slot and a 3.5mm audio jack.

At the back of the new GSmart phone you’ll find a 2 megapixel camera and under its hood there’s a Qualcomm ESM7225 528 MHz CPU, plus 256MB RAM, 512MB ROM and a 1500 mAh battery. Gigabyte’s very first Android phone will debut in Russia in February with a price tag of $300.

Gigabyte Android Phone Coming Soon

Gigabyte also wants a piece of the Android pie, or so claim DigiTimes, according to their sources. This company already has a bunch of interesting smartphones, but they run Windows Mobile (like the very appealing GSmart S1200), for now.

It seems that Gigabyte and Taiwanese company AboCom Systems are ready to work together with Vibo, in order to produce Android handsets. In case you’re wondering about the expertise of the device maker, know that Gigabyte produces Linux-based MIDs (M528), so it can handle a Google mobile OS device.

Gigabyte GSmart S1200 Gets Opera Mobile, Powers “Hami” Service

Opera Mobile is becoming more and more the default choice of people using Windows Mobile. This also applies to the Gigabyte GSmart S1200 handset, that now uses Opera Mobile 9.5 to power the “Hami” widget services and also provide access to local search engines, news, weather, stocks and more.

GSmart S1200 provides a pretty neat browsing experience and it would be a pity not to harness it by using Opera Mobile. Opera is also known for developing cool widgets for mobile phones and it should seamlessly integrated CHT’s Hami services, allowing users to socialize, search and have fun on the web.

CHT (Chunghwa Telecom) is a company based in Taiwan, that developed the Hami widget service, providing local, online info and in the future it will also include paid services, like e-book stores. For now, Hami is supported on the iPhone, Android and WinMo devices. Keep in mind that new shipment of GSmart S1200 will come with a preinstalled version of Opera Mobile 9.5.

Gigabyte S1200 Available Now in Taiwan; Seen in Action (Video)

The Gigabyte S1200 WM Pro handset has just been made available in Taiwan. This WVGA handset retails via Chungwa Telecom for $392 and it comes with a 32bit Qualcomm MSM7200A CPU (528 MHz), 288MB RAM and 512M ROM. Here’s its SmartPack Flash-based UI caught in action:

S1200 also comes with a 3.1 inch 480 x 800 pixels color transflective TFT LCD, a mini USB audio jack, GPS and geotagging. There’s also an accelerometer on board, a 3.1 megapixel camera, a secondary camera and a 1010 mAh battery.

As far as connectivity is concerned, you get GSM (850/900/1800/1900), UMTS 2100, CSD, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, HSDPA, HSUPA, Bluetooth and WLAN. If the internal memory is not enough, you may use a microSD, microSDHC, TransFlash or SDIO card. Expect the phone to reach Europe pretty soon, together with other 2 or 3 handsets of the same brand, but in the meantime let’s see the device in action again, in the video below:

Gigabyte GSmart S1200, Another Windows Mobile Device at Computex

Aside from Acer’s hot handsets, Computex also includes Gigabyte’s latest offer, GSmart S1200, a handset that should hit the market this month. This smartphone packs a Qualcomm 7200A 528 MHz processor, 288MB RAM, 512MB ROM and a 3.1 inch 480 x 800 touchscreen.

Bluetooth, WiFi and UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA connectivity are also included on the specs list, together with GPS, a 3 megapixel camera, Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional and a new UI (Smart Vision). A Windows Mobile 6.5 upgrade will also be available and an 8 megapixel follow-up, that will be available in the second half of 2009.
