Google has recently announced an update for the famous GMail service, in its version for the iPhone and Android platforms. The most important upgrades of the new version are the offline support and UI improvements.

Google seems to have noticed that mobile networks have a tendency to disconnect more often than the desktop versions, so they have implemented more caching on the devices, in order to shorten the server response waiting time. Now, the server communication is done in the background, when the handset is not in use.
