  • The long-awaited new HP smartphones are finally here and they look stylish enough to stay on the market and be successful for a while. I’m talking about the Ipaq Data Messenger and Ipaq Voice Messsenger, which can be checked out in the following picture:

Data Messenger is a Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional smartphone with a slide-out keyboard, a 2.8 inch QVGA display, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Quad-band GSM, Tri-band HSDPA (7.2 Mbps-European bands), A-GPS plus a 3.1 megapixel camera with LED flash. In the memory department, this is a quite a good handset, featuring 128 MB RAM, 256 MB ROM and a microSD slot. The battery is an 1140 mAh unit and the smartphone measures 5.7 x 1.74 x 11.4 cm, weighing 160 grams.

Also, it features a 2.5mm headphone jack, Opera Mobile, Google Maps and Webraska Turn-by-Turn Navigation (30 day trial). Ipaq Voice Messenger, on the other hand is really something else, as it comes with similar specs, but uses a suretype keyboard instead of the slide-out one of the Data Messenger. The device uses Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard and a 2.4 inch QVGA screen. Connectivity and GPS stay the same, but the battery is a larger unit (1260 mAh Lithium-Polymer).

Expect to see these handsets SIM-free at about 429 EUR (Voice Messenger) and 514 EUR (Data Messenger) or via Vodafone in November.
