AT&T’s got some sad news today, concerning the HTC Lancaster handset, that got cancelled it seems, although it could have been the carrier’s first Android phone. However, we find our consolation in the fact that AT&T is still planning to release HTC Warhawk and Fortress in October.

Back to Lancaster, this phone was supposed to sport A-GPS, a 3 megapixel camera, a microSD card slot, but also a poor 2.8 inch QVGA display, so it’s not that much of a loss. Meanwhile, HTC Warhawk (Touch Diamond2) and Fortress (Touch Pro2) will bring some Windows Mobile 6.5 love to AT&T.

Kind of late the launch of these two phones, considering that T-Mobile’s already offering the Touch Pro2, but hey, they sell almost every Android handset as well and AT&T hasn’t got them yet, so what else could lag?
