Japanese carrier KDDI has just unveiled an entire series of products, that includes fashion phones and a couple of fashion accessories for handsets. Among them, we found the stylish iida G11 model and the iida X-RAY transparent phone. Here’s the G11:

iida G11 is a follow-up to the G9 model, launched two years ago and it comes with a slider form factor. The creation of designer Ichiro Iwasaki, this device was produced by Sony Ericsson and comes with the following features:

Dimensions: 117 x 51 x 15.8mm
Display: 3.2 inch, TFT, VGA resolution
Connectivity: CDMA, GSM, WiFi, Bluetooth
Camera: 8.08MP, autofocus, flash
Memory: microSD card slot (up to 32GB)
Other functions: 1seg TV tuner, mobile payments, navigation services

The other model we’re interested about is the very original iida X-RAY, a handset with a case made from colored translucent plastic. As an external display, this device uses an LED matrix, showing info on a single running line screen. You can see all the electronic components of this device through its case, which is pretty cool actually.

Designed by Tokudzin Yoshioka, the X-RAY has the following specifications:

Connectivity: CDMA, GSM, Bluetooth, IR
Dimensions: 110 x 49 x 15.7mm
Weight: 132 grams
Display: 3 inch, widescreen, TFT, external display (LED matrix)
Camera: 8.08MP, autofocus, flash
Memory: 828MB internal memory, microSD slot (up to 32GB)
Other features: 1seg TV tuner, mobile payments, navigation services

In case this handset looks familiar, you might know it as KDDI’s concept phone from a while ago, that’s now scheduled to become real in a year’s time. The device is part of the Japanese carrier’s Design Project series and it incorporates a printer, unbelievable as it may seem.

Also, the phone is based on layers and packs a pico projector, although we’ve heard that the layers got turned into stylized buttons and the features are much more low-end-ish than we had hoped for. To be honest, the original gadget was a huge sandwich of layers, each with a cool feature and it passed from one to another like a Swiss Army knife.

The real thing will be available in 3 colors later this month as part of the KDDI iida designer series, only in Japan.

KDDI Corp have just revealed a microSD with wireless support, exhibited at Wireless Japan 2009. This tiny product, measuring only 11 x 16 x 0.7mm will bring WiFi support to the laptops and handsets that lack this feature, enabling a faster Internet connection.

KDDI showed the public and specialists present in Japan two card models, created by Mitsumi Electric Co. Ltd and Renesas Technology Corp, respectively. Both include a wireless LAN IC (complaint with IEEE802.11 b/g) and a transceiving antenna.

We learn that for both cards, the above mentioned antenna has an area of one third that of the microSD card, according to KDDI. We remind you that Mitsumi premiered such features on the Eye-Fi, the first SD wireless cards and now they’ve moved on to the microSD segment.
