  • Iridium has introduced the 9555 handset, a new satellite phone that’s finally small enough to fit in your pocket, specially because its antenna is stored internally.

Iridium 9555 is shock resistant and can also handle water and dust, so it’ll travel with you to the Amazon, Greenland or maybe on the Moon. The satellite phone integrates a speakerphone, uses a hands-free function and also features a mini-USB interface used to transfer data. Don’t expect to play games, listen to music or take pics with this device, as its purpose is not entertainment, but rather utility everywhere on the globe.

Iridium 9555 incorporates a battery that offers up to 30 hours of standby time and up to 4 hours of talk time. Among the specs of the device there’s also a 200 character illuminated graphic display and an illuminated weather resistant keypad.
