Monday, February 8th, 2010

Dopod is, as you might already know, the Chinese subsidiary of HTC and we’ve just stumbled upon their leaked roadmap, available below. Included on the list there’s HTC Dragon, a long time rumoured device, meant only for the Chinese market and featuring a 3.6 inch WVGA display.

Next, there’s the A6388 handset, packing a 3.4 inch HVGA screen, followed by the Huashan, with its 4.3 inch WVGA display. Huashan will run Windows Mobile and it’s accompanied by Tianshan, a 3.2 inch QVGA phone and the Songshan, with a 2.8 inch QVGA screen and front-facing keyboard.

Keep in mind that HTC Dragon is still in development, so there’s a long way till its launch.

Word has it that the photo shows a Verizon handset that’s about to get launched. We can assume that this is the next unit in the Droid series, following Moto Droid and HTC Droid Eris. HTC Passion/Dragon is all about a 5 megapixel camera and Android 2.0, while the release date is somewhere around mid-December, although previous rumours mentioned Black Friday.

Mystery HTC Android Phone is a GSM Unit… Maybe HTC Dragon?

Monday, October 19th, 2009

A tipster of the site The Unlockr has just made popular a bunch of photos showing a brand new Android device, with speculations claiming that this in fact the rumoured HTC Dragon. Notice that large screen, high resolution, cool camera at the back and the “3G” mark in the title bar, showing that this is a GSM device.

Some say that HTC Dragon could be the Android version of HTC Touch HD2, a smartphone based on Windows Mobile 6.5 plus HTC Sense UI. An important feature to mention is the nice trackball at the bottom, an extra that would surely be welcome, even on Touch HD2, for better scrolling.

Touch-sensitive menu keys are the last thing we can figure out from the photos and the rest is up for speculation. What do you say? Is this HTC Dragon or a fresh newcomer to the Android scene?

HTC Dragon Features Android and 1GHz CPU

Sunday, October 4th, 2009

A couple of modders were the authors of a hot leak, that of HTC Dragon, an Android device with a 1 GHz Qualcomm CPU. The folks of XDA Developers managed to get hold of an experimental HTC build and made a couple of logical deductions starting from there.

The build is called “Pet Dragon” and screenshots from it are pictured below, seemingly meant to be part of HTC Dragon’s interface. HTC Dragon is also known as Zoom 2 and it’ll support a 800 x 480 pixel resolution, quite impressive for any handset. Turns out that Dragon is also a capacitive touchscreen deice and no, it’s not HTC Leo, Desire or Passion.

We also learn that the smartphone operates on “2.0 firmware” coupled with HTC Sense UI, but all in all the software is still under development and it needs work. A couple of interesting new features are HTC SSD and TV browser, but these might still be custom interface screenshots or even fakes, so don’t get too excited.
