Windows Mobile 7 Minimum Requirements Available via Leak

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

It’s not the first time (and certainly not the last) we get to see a bunch of minimum requirements for the new Windows Mobile 7 OS. The newest leak reveals that the device running WM7 should sport a 1GHz processor and a 3.6 inch WVGA display, at least.

Although we don’t even know if the new Windows Mobile will arrive in 2010 or 2011, or if it will have a Business Edition and Media Edition, one thing’s for sure: the OS is coming and some even say that it’ll come sooner than expected. Among those there’s Eldar Murtazin from Mobile-review, claiming that he already has a WM7 phone and the OS is “desktop-like”.

Eldar also mentions that the device incorporates a 1850 mAh battery, that functions for about 6-7 hours. Back to the minimum requirements, the ideal device for the new platform should also feature a G-sensor, a compass, 8GB of onboard memory and a 5 megapixel camera. One can only hope that Microsoft will unveil this new OS during MWC 2010 (15-18 February) and we’re certainly anxious to receive info about that rumoured Zune Phone, too.

Apple Tablet (iPad/iSlate) Leaked Image Spotted!

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

A week from now we’ll probably be frantically searching for secret hands on experiences with the Apple Tablet, or we’ll be watching Steve Jobs on stage, introducing the new product. Call it iPad, call it iSlate, but one thing’s for sure: the device is supposedly leaked in the image below:

We don’t exclude the possibility of a fake, but the image looks pretty genuine. What you can see in the photo is the Apple Tablet’s 10 inch screen, next to a MacBook. Fake or real? Have your say!

HTC Supersonic, HD2 Gone Android, Supporting WiMAX and Ready for Sprint

Monday, January 18th, 2010

As we’ve found out a while ago, Sprint managed to leak its 2010 portofolio on the web, including its upcoming phones. On this list there was a device called HTC A9292, supporting WiMAX and bearing a candybar design. Apparently, according to Engadget this smartphone should be a real “monster”…

Also codenamed HTC Supersonic, the handset was included on the Taiwanese phone maker’s list of Android-based handsets. Expect it to be similar to HTC HD2, perhaps even a version of it, sporting a 4.3 inch display and fast processor (that’s still a mystery, though).

The phone’s body is really thin and the device also comes with a kickstand at the back (like the Imagio model). HTC Supersonic will be available in pearly white, it’ll run Android 2.1 and use the Sense interface. Engadget’s source mentions quite a bunch of bugs plaguing the software on this device, but is a HTC HD2 with WiMAX and Android appealing or what?

Motorola Shadow = Nexus Two With QWERTY Keyboard?

Sunday, January 17th, 2010

Here’s yet another rumour that associates Motorola Droid’s follow-up with the Google Nexus Two. It all started when Google officials were seen chatting with Moto’s top men during CES 2010 and now we’ve got a render of a fresh device, called Motorola Shadow.

Nothing is known about this handset, that might as well be a mere fan made render, or the Droid follow-up, perhaps even the Nexus Two. Motorola Shadow looks very much like a Moto Droid handset with a white keyboard and a wrist strap, but we’re really curious to see some leaks specs of this phone, aside from renders.

If this is truly the Nexus One, or if Moto Droid’s successor can be considered the Nexus Two, we’re in for a very, very cool smartphone, that should have a decent price tag to appeal to the general public.

Motorola Ruth Specs Leaked, New Android Phone Looks Promising

Saturday, January 16th, 2010

After CLIQ and Droid, Motorola’s got another interesting Android phone coming, the “Ruth” model, that will probably have its name changed once it becomes official. This device sports the MB511 model number and it was discovered via Moto’s user agent profile database.

Apparently, the handset uses a QVGA display similar to the one on HTC Tattoo, it supports GSM/WCDMA connectivity and packs a Qualcomm MSM7200a processor.  Android 1.5 is also mentioned among the specs, but we sure hope for a more recent version of the OS to be available preinstalled on the device.

Archos Tablet Phone Coming Soon, Leaked by Accessory Seller

Friday, January 15th, 2010

Noreve is a company selling gadget accessories and they recently managed to become more famous by leaking the Archos phone tablet. Better said, they mentioned the yet unreleased device in their list of upcoming products to have accessories available.

We remind you that the Archos handset wasn’t even shown @ CES 2010, like many expected, but there was a Tradition leather case in Noreve’s system for it nevertheless. This 1GHz ARM Cortex-based smartphone runs Android and it might be coming soon, since its accessories have starting popping up.

The device was shown in September for the first time, during a press conference, where we learned that it features a 4.3 inch touchscreen, with 854 x 480 resolution, a 10mm thick case and 3.5G connectivity.

$100,000 Bounty for Apple Tablet/iSlate Info, Illegal Initiative?

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

Some blogs are willing to pay serious cash for some real info regarding the upcoming Apple Tablet/iSlate, in this time of rumours and speculations. By “some blogs” we mean Gawker’s Valleywag, an online publication focused on Silicon Valley topics.

They’re ready to pay big bucks, like $10,000 for pictures of the device, or even $20,000 for a video of the iSlate. Also, a photo or video of Steve Jobs holding the tablet and playing with it can bring you $50,000. The big cheese is one hour of hands on action with the tablet, that’ll bring the lucky leaker $100,000.

Too bad that such bounties are illegal, or so claims a lawyer questioned by Washington Post. Apple could sue Gawker/Valleywag for breach of non disclosure contract, if their initiative comes through and a leak does happen. They’ll probably have to pay damages worth much more than the bounty they promised…

BlackBerry Curve 8910 Gets Pictured for the First Time

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

After finding out that BlackBerry Curve 8910 was approved by the Bluetooth SIG organization, we stumbled upon the very first picture of the new smartphone. Turns out that the new handset replaces its predecessor’s trackball with a trackpad and runs OS 5.0.4+.

Also, this phone looks very much like the BB Bold 9700 model, but you might notice that the keyboard metal frets are missing and the keys keep the 8900 style. Supposedly, this handset should pack GPS and lack 3G connectivity, but take that with a grain of salt, folks.

Monday, January 11th, 2010

Mobile Review has a scoop on BlackBerry Tour 2, that supposedly popped up on Verizon Wireless’ database, as pictured below. The 9650 model is also known as BlackBerry Essex or Tour 2 and it should be a successor to the very popular BB Tour, with the primary extra feature being WiFi connectivity.

Turns out that the new BlackBerry is a dual mode smartphone, with CDMA, GSM, EDGE and UMTS support, running BB OS 5.0.0.385 and packing a 3.2 megapixel camera. Expect it to go on sale in early 2010 and rumour has it that it’ll also reach the US carrier Sprint.
