Nokia has just announced the N900 Internet tablet, also known as Rover, the first Maemo-5 based device. Don’t get too excited over this announcement, ’cause Nokia World 2009 is coming and we’ll even see a handset with this version of Maemo on board, as we’ve pointed out here.

After checking out a bunch of Nokia’s upcoming AT&T hits, we stumble upon the N900 Internet tablet, dubbed Rover and pictured below. Its specs are also available and I have to say that they’re quite impressive.
This is a Maemo 5 tablet, that measures 59.7mm x 111mm x 18.2mm, weighs 180 grams and features a 3.5 800 x 480 (WVGA) touchscreen....

Nokia has recently stopped selling its WiMAX Internet Tablet, the N810, the only portable device made by the Finns that supports WiMAX connectivity. There’s no info on why the product was discontinued, but know that it wasn’t all bad, as it had quite neat features: a 4.1 inch touchscreen, a sliding keyboard and a $438 price tag.

Nokia have just posted a countdown timer on their main European site, but it also shows up on Nokia Middle East and Africa home pages. The timer shows that there are about two days left till the Finns will reveal “something important”. Is it a new phone? A new service? An operating system, maybe?
