Over 65,000 apps, 100,000 developers and 1.5 billion downloads in the first year! That’s a huge performance, even for Apple and you should know that the App Store is now available in 77 countries and on two different device, the iPhone and iPod Touch.

The handset’s maker sold around 40 million units of these devices, that account for 37.5 downloads per unit, while each app was downloaded about 23,077 times, on average. Android Market, Palm Catalog and Windows Marketplace have a long way to go before reaching such an impressive feat.
