  • In case you didn’t know Apple removed around 5000 applications from the App Store, drawing the hate of many developers and companies. They decided to explain their decision, specially regarding the sex apps, that apparently were increasing in number lately.

Philip W. Schiller explained the purging of sex apps in a New York Times interview, citing customer complaints from women and parents, finding the content offensive and degrading. Meanwhile, Fred Clark, co-president of On the Go Girls mentioned that 50 of the company’s apps were removed from the App Store, too.

What’s strange is that Playboy and Sports Illustrated applications are still available through the Store, so the selection of offensive software might depend on brand/fame/cash after all.
