Monster Go! Review (Lumia 640 XL LTE): Endless Runner Meets RPG, is Much More Complex Than One Would Think (Video)
Once we reviewed the Microsoft Lumia 640 XL LTE handset, we also played some games on it, like the Monster Go! title. The game is available for free on the Windows Store and it’s an endless runner with strong RPG elements.
You get a highly customizable character and your character is allowed to evolve and get new abilities. Skills can be upgraded and you can change clothes, choosing from 150+ items. Many traps and enemies are in your path and a boss battle at the end of the level. There are 5 stages and 5 bosses to face, unless updates have brought us more. You can do a double jump, use a powerup to get bigger and the game takes up 91 MB of space.
You gather gold as you progress and buy new equipment. Controls are simple: tap right and hit and tap left to jump. The purpose is to not fall in gaps and not lose all your HP bar through enemy hits. This is a very addictive title and a fun one to play. The RPG part involves assigning skill points and one can equip a weapon, accessories and specials in order to progress.
This feels a bit like Pokemon, as the character evolves and seems to change species, size and abilities. Sometimes the huge quantity of enemies will overlap each other and turn into sort of a bug that pushes you into a pit. We give this game an 8.7 out of 10 and you can download it here.
