New HD Video Processor Means New Touchscreen Nokias?
December 1st, 2008 | by Mira |
Rumor has it that Renesas is planning to unveil a processor that will make it possible to view full HD video in 30fps on cell phones. The announcement is expected to happen during the ISSCC 2009 (International Solid State Circuits Conference) that will take place in San Francisco between the8th and 12th of February, next year.
The Renesas CPU features a maximum operating frequency of 500MHz and measures just 6.4×6.5mm. The device will support video in MPEG-4AVC/H.264/MPEG-2 and MPEG-4.
In parallel, Nokia is also preparing something big, probably a future touchscreen phone hoping for a smashing success. Which are the chances that the roads of these two producers meet and join forces for the same final product?
