Nokia and Chipmaker Infineon to Create Next-gen High end Devices

  • Reuters informs us that Nokia and chipmaker Infineon will be working together on making chips for high-end devices created by the Finns. These will be the next-gen smartphones of the following years and you should know that Infineon already works with Nokia, as a supplier of chips.

    The company claims that the new products will be meant to use the 4G LTE technology, the next step in mobile connectivity. Such high speed networks will become operable in 2011, specially since the mobile industry hasn’t yet agreed on a standard for 4G networks.

    While some carriers and developers support Sprint Nextel Corp’s WiMAX, other stick with LTE, also supported by Canada’s Nortel Networks as the ideal upgrade path for 80% of the world’s phone providers.
