  • Nokia has just announced the long-awaited E71 follow-up, the E72, a slim handset that comes with comprehensive messaging solutions. We’re dealing with a full QWERTY smartphone, providing a rich mobile email experience and support for instant messaging, ideal for both productivity and personal use.

Nokia E72 keeps a lot of the elements that made the E71 the best selling Nokia QWERTY device to date and even improves a few features. Desktop-like email experience is available on the smartphone, borrowed from the E75 and there’s also a new optical navigation key on board for intuitive scrolling through menus and emails.

The handset’s camera is a 5 megapixel unit and E72′s specs list also includes a 3.5mm audio jack, support for Yahoo Messenger, Google Talk and Ovi via the Nokia Messaging option on the homescreen. Nokia Messaging comes with a lifetime license and there are many onboard clients to use, like Mail for Exchange and IBM Lotus Notes Traveler.

The E72 packs A-GPS, a compass, integrated Maps, lifetime walk and 10 days of turn by turn navigation (if activated in the first 3 months). Noise cancellation completes the specs list, plus there’s also a torch on board for the explorer business man who owns an E72. Quickoffice also made the list and we learn that the Nokia smartphone will ship in late Q3 2009 for EUR 350 before taxes.
