Nokia Introduces 6600i Slide Handset, Its Smallest 5 Megapixel Slider to Date

  • After introducing 3 hot new Internet handsets for emerging markets yesterday, Nokia seems to be having a busy week, announcing another interesting phone, the Nokia 6600i slide. We’re dealing with the Finns’ smallest 5 megapixel slider to date, that you can check out in the image below.

    Expect the handset to hit the market in Q3 2009, supporting WCDMA 850/2100, GSM/EGSM quadband 850/900/1800/1900 MHz connectivity. It’ll rely on the Series 40 platform and pack a 2.2 inches 240 x 320 pixels display and the above mentioned camera that also supports video capture (VGA at 15 fps or QVGA at 30 fps) and comes with 8x zoom plus double flash and autofocus.

    The handset is a compact and sophisticated piece of gadgetry with stainless steel brushed covers, an incorporated accelerometer and pre-installed Nokia Maps. Nokia 6600i slide uses a 1000 mAh Li-Ion battery that provides 14.5 days of standby time, 4 hours of GSM talk and up to 3 hours of UMTS talk.

    Rounding up the specs list there’s a stereo music player, 20 MB of free user memory, a microSD slot for cards of up to 16GB, Java MIDP2.0, Bluetooth 2.0 and microUSB.
