Nokia Starts Delivering the N900 Maemo Handset

  • Reuters informs us that Nokia has started delivering the top range N900 model, a mighty rival for the likes of the iPhone and BlackBerry. The Finnish company’s CEO, Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo recently mentioned that Nokia has started the deliveries of the device today.

    The N900 is the company’s first Linux Maemo OS handset and it appears that we’ll see this platform evolving in the following years, probably harming Symbian’s popularity. Nokia keeps a very good market share, close to 40%, but the handset maker has lost share on the expensive models market.

    High end products are also important for Nokia, since their average selling prices have declined faster than the trends predicted. Will N900 turn things around? We’ll just have to wait and see…
