Who would have guessed that one day we’d be seeing some other browser than Safari Mobile on the iPhone? We’re talking about Opera Mini for iPhone, recently submitted by Opera Software to the Apple App Store. This version of the web browser was first shown to journalists in February at the MWC 2010 event.

The early reviews of Opera Mini for iPhone included a lot of positive feedback regarding the speed of the browser, that’s able to load pages 6 times faster than Safari Mobile. There’s also the advantage of the traffic compression technology provided by Opera servers, that compress traffic to 90% of the initial volume before displaying a page on your handset.

This means much less cash spent while using roaming data plans. Opera Mini is a very popular choice these days, being able to work on virtually any handset and getting the love of around 50 million users worldwide.
