Doom Running on Palm Pre (Video)
Skilled hacker Sargun created a new homebrew software, called PRDoom, that’s basically an open source clone of the famous FPS Doom. This clone uses SDL for rendering purpose and, as you can see in the video below the game runs perfectly on Palm Pre:
Pre’s GUI, Luna uses a framebuffer and the SDL backend used by the hacker was directfb. The smartphone’s rootfs is based on openembedded and it has directfb, but the openembedded repositories didn’t have any versions of SDL linked with Palm’s directfb.
