Palm Pre Third Party Virtual QWERTY Keyboard in Action (Video)

  • Third party webOS developers (yes, there are such people) have come up with a very neat way of turning Pre’s virtual keyboard into a full QWERTY one. The result can be seen in the video below and we have to mention that you can get this software to work with a double tap in the gesture area:

    Palm Pre’s original keyboard uses virtual keys that aren’t available on the physical sliding keyboard and it can change orientation from portrait to landscape. The devs mentioned above modified these virtual keys, that now cover all possible options available on a normal keyboard.

    The issue is that the keyboard won’t be available and supported in all the situations where data entry is required. For example, you can enter a site’s URL with it, but if more info is required, you’ll have to type it using the Pre’s physical keyboard. This third party solution should work, at least till Palm offers an alternative.
