  • In spite of the fact that WiMAX is having a hard time getting fully implemented in the US, Samsung is getting ready for the new era of connectivity. The manufacturer announced its first WiMAX device, Mondi, during CTIA Wireless 2009 and even took some time to give us a walkthrough of the handset:

Samsung Mondi will be using Clearwire’s WiMAX Clear network and it’ll support WiFi and pack a 4.3 inch touchscreen and a sliding QWERTY keyboard. Mondi uses a TouchWiz-like interface, that “hides” Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional and the device comes with a 3 megapixel camera, a GPS, Bluetooth 2.0, HDMI video out and 4 GB of internal memory.

Mondi is a MID more than anything else, but one with super mobile broadband capabilities, as you’ll see once it hits the market.
