  • Samsung Omnia II might be reaching AT&T pretty soon, or so claim the Engadget folks, in spite of the fact that this handset was known to be a CDMA phone headed for Verizon. It turns out that the FCC has just approved a GSM Omnia II, supporting AT&T bands.

The phone might rival the iPhone 3GS, available via the same carrier, although it beats the hell out of it, spec-wise. Samsung Omnia II packs a 3.7 inches 480 x 800 pixels AMOLED resistive touchscreen and it relies on the TouchWiz 2.0 UI, on top of Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, upgradeable to WM 6.5.

Its specs list also includes an accelerometer, handwritting recognition, a 3.5mm audio jack, a microSD card slot, HSDPA support, a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and dual power LED flash, plus geotagging, mobile blogging and video recording.
