  • Samsung has recently shown a new rugged handset, the Xplorer (B2100), a very tough phone with a classy design and top ergonomics. Samsung Xplorer is built to withstand shocks, hits, scratches, dust and moisture, thanks to IP57 certification and it can work underwater (1 meter depth, for 30 minutes).

Xplorer is also certified with Military Standards 810F (MIL-STD-810F), so it’ll work during storms, rain, mist or extremely low or high temperatures. This phone is the outdoors type of gadget, featuring powerful speakers, background noise cancellation and even a flashlight. This is one of the best underwater handsets and it’s the perfect choice for construction workers and extreme sports enthusiasts.

The device will be available in Germany, Romania and other European countries starting from April 2009. Moving on to its specs, we learn that Samsung Xplorer supports GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) connectivity, features a 1.77 inch TFT LCD display, packs a 1.3 megapixel camera with video recording and FM radio.

There’s also Bluetooth 2.1+EDR and USB 2.0 support on board, plus a 7 MB internal memory and a microSD slot.
