  • LiveCast claims that they’ll “revolutionize the television news industry”, thanks to their new service called Lightning. This offering will allow reporters from all over the globe to go live and show real time footage directly to the newsrooms, without lag and similar issues.

LiveCast capitalizes on the latest handsets’ ability to capture high quality video and support high speed transfers. The company even goes as far as claiming that the service plus new devices out there will successfully replace satellite mews trucks. They have somewhat of a point, though, because media giants such as NBC Universal already use LiveCast to transmit live video from the field to websites and the television studio, but also to social media outlets.

Other media companies might also be interested in this solution, unless they’ve seen Qik in action, with the upper hand of being free.
