Sharp Plans to Expand Outside of Japan, Hot Phones Coming to the US?
As the Japanese smartphone market is slowing down, local companies are considering an overseas expansion. Among them, Sharp is keen on reaching the international market with its hot smartphones, as the company estimates sales of 9.7 million units in Japan and 2 million units overseas in 2008.
However, these are $600 plus phones we’re talking about, so there’s no chance to take over the Chinese market with that price tag. Still, the Europeans might buy a Sharp EM-One (pictured above) handset that features a 4.1 inch WVGA screen and a full QWERTY keyboard.
Although the Japanese phone manufacturer has shown its love for Windows Mobile more than once, we might also be seeing a Linux-based device from them pretty soon, perhaps even an Android Phone.
