Sony Ericsson C901 and Naite Announced Today; First GreenHeart Phones

  • Sony Ericsson went green today, announcing two new eco-friendly handsets, from the GreenHeart series: C901 and Naite. These phones come with low power chargers and their cases contain a minimum of 50% recycled plastics. Also, the devices use e-manuals, in order to save paper and reduce its usage by 90%.

    Sony Ericsson claims that the Green Heart phones reduce the CO2 footprint by 15% and that it intends to have all of its devices go eco-friendly by 2015. Sony Ericsson C901 GreenHeart can be considered a remake of C901 Cyber-shot, so it’s a candybar that comes in white and with the same specs as its lookalike: 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and Xenon flash, HSDPA, accelerometer and QVGA display.

    C901 will hit the market this quarter, bundled with the MH300 GreenHeart heaset, as for Sony Ericsson Naite, this is also a candybar device supporting quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE connectivity (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) and tri-band UMTS/HSPA (850/1900/2100 MHz). Naite also comes with Google Maps, Stereo Bluetooth, a media player, email, Exchange Activesync, a 2 megapixel camera, 100MB of internal memory and a microSD card slot.

    Sony Ericsson Naite will be available starting Q3 2009 in vapour silver and ginger red, for a yet unknown price.
