Sony May Buy Ericsson’s Share in Sony Ericsson
Word’s out that Sony might be trying to purchase Ericsson’s share of the Sony Ericsson joint venture (50%), as the Swedish company wants to put an end to the partnership. The only trouble is that because of the economic depression, Sony will find it difficult to get the cash they need for such a purchase.
We don’t have any info regarding SE’s potential future, if this transaction really takes place, but what we do know is that Sony will be on its own, trying to conquer the mobile industry once more. It’s been a bad year for the brand, as it meant the loss of market share and profits, so a change is needed.
