  • Completing today’s trio of Symbian Belle announcements, Nokia 701 comes with a unique title, that will probably be stripped soon enough. Nokia is saying that this model features the brightest screen in the world, unless LG’s NOVA display has something to say…

A quick look at the specs reveals that this is the highest end model of the trio announced today, but before we get to the hardware let’s check out the screen. Nokia 701 uses a an IPS LCD panel with ClearBlack technology, a great contrast and brightness plus it gives out an impressive amount of NITs, the unit that measure screen brightness. LG is supposed to come out with a champion soon, a device with a second-gen NOVA display with 1000 NITs.

Nokia 701 measures 11mm in thickness, weighs 131 grams, runs Symbian Belle and has its display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass, so no worries here. Under the hood we find some solid horsepower, as follows:

    • CPU: new graphics co processor, 4X times graphics memory of predecessor Symbian models
    • Display: 3.5 inch IPS LCD, ClearBlack tech
    • Camera: 8MP, full focus, dual LED, secondary camera for video calling
    • Memory: 8GB internal, microSD (32GB)
    • Battery: 17 hours talk time (GSM), 550 hours of standby

Nokia 701 will arrive in Q3 2011 with a price tag of around EUR 290 and it’ll be available in steel dark, silver light, white variations and more.
