  • The Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) from Taiwan has recently introduced its flexible display technologies, among which AMOLED screens, roll-to-roll cholesterol liquid crystal displays and electrowetting ones. The advantage of these new technologies is that they save energy, have a low cost and light weight.

One of ITRI’s prototypes is the 4.1 inch AMOLED panel, based on plastic substrates and able to show images even if curved. For now, the unit is monochrome, but it’ll be available in multi-color versions, as manufacturers adopt the technology.

Among the projects shown by ITRI there were also a cholesterol liquid crystal display from Kodak, with an impressive 6.9 inch roll-to-roll process and a 10.4 inch QVGA single-layer multi-color cholesterol LCD.
