  • Twitter users will now be able to make voice calls to each other via the famous microblogging platform, thanks to a third party service provided by Jajah. The service went live, straight into beta on Thursday morning, allowing Twitter users to start voice chat simply by typing @call @username (Twitter ID).

During the beta phase of Twitter calling, the calls will be limited to two minutes and only users with Jajah accounts will be able to initiate and receive calls. This is a free service that works on all Twitter-enabled devices, PCs and smartphones included. It’s important to mention that users will keep their phone numbers private and that they can ignore the call, if they don’t feel like talking.

Facebook also went with voice communication features this week, thanks to the third party service of Vivox, who also provide voice solution for Second Life users.
