  • Windows Phone 7 is very much official now, with the New York launch event having wrapped up and about 9 phones showing their beautiful faces in there. Among them we found the strangely familiar HTC HD7, apparently a HD2 clone with minor upgrades. By “minor” we mean 720p video capture and Windows Phone 7.

The handset is coming to T-Mobile exclusively, at least in the US, where this model will be available in mid-November. October 21 is the debut date for Europe, where the device will be sold by O2 in the UK and Ireland, Telstra in Australia and O2 Germany locally. Also, Movistar will sell it in Spain and Bouygues Telecom in France.

Let’s move on to the specs now, mentioning that Europeans will only get 8GB of storage space, while the US users get 16GB.

    CPU: 1GHz
    OS: Windows Phone 7
Memory: 512MB ROM, 576MB RAM, 8/16GB internal memory
    Dimensions: 122 x 68 x 11.2mm
    Weight: 162 grams
    Display: 4.3 inch touchscreen, 480 x 800 pixels
    Connectivity: HSPA/WCDMA, quad band GSM/GPRS/EDGE, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
Camera: 5MP, autofocus, flashlight, 720p HD video recording
    Battery: 1230 mAh

We can’t help but wonder why HD2 didn’t get the WP7 upgrade instead of us having to buy new gear…
