Huawei is reportedly testing a 6.84-inch, 1.5K OLED panel for the nova 17 Pro, alongside a 200MP main camera and a 50MP telephoto unit. The nova 17 family is rumored to launch in China toward the end of November, although Huawei has not confirmed the lineup or timing.
The screen testing is said to cover two 1.5K OLED sizes: 6.68 inches for the standard nova 17 and 6.84 inches for the nova 17 Pro. Those dimensions would match the previous generation, suggesting the more notable changes may center on imaging hardware and processing.
For the nova 17 Pro, the main sensor is rumored to be a 200MP GalaxyCore GCB0H, possibly the GCB0H5 variant, with an approximately 1/1.56-inch optical format. Its telephoto camera could use a 50MP SmartSens SC5000CS sensor in a 1/2.5-inch format, while a multispectral sensor is also expected to help capture more accurate color information.
A Kirin 8-series platform is also expected, with Kirin 8050 appearing in related rumors. Reports have additionally pointed to upgraded selfie cameras and new AI editing tools across the family, though the exact features and model-by-model distribution remain unclear.
Current reports point to as many as five devices in the nova 17 range:
- Huawei nova 17z, expected as an entry-level model.
- Huawei nova 17 SE, another reported entry-level variant.
- Huawei nova 17, the standard model reportedly linked to the 6.68-inch OLED panel.
- Huawei nova 17 Pro, reportedly equipped with the 6.84-inch OLED panel and upgraded camera system.
- Huawei nova 17 Ultra or nova 17 Pro Max, two names reportedly used for the same top-tier position in the range.
The camera resolution would continue a direction established by the nova 16 Pro and nova 16 Ultra, which already used 200MP main cameras alongside 50MP ultrawide and periscope cameras. Huawei’s plans for availability beyond China have not been confirmed.
