Dacia is now calling its 150 HP gasoline, LPG and electric powertrain the Tribrid 150 4×4. Previously known as the Hybrid-G 150 4×4, the system is available for the Duster and the larger Bigster, combining two fuel tanks with an electric motor that also provides all-wheel-drive capability.
Dacia claims up to 1,500 km of range with both the gasoline and LPG tanks filled. In urban driving, the company says the vehicles can operate electrically for up to 60% of the time, based on its internal testing during the urban phase of the WLTC cycle.
The rear electric motor is central to the 4×4 setup, allowing the powertrain to run in either two- or four-wheel drive. Auto mode switches between them automatically, while dedicated settings are offered for snow, mud, sand and rough terrain. This gives the Duster and Bigster a genuine electrically assisted all-wheel-drive function rather than using electrification solely to reduce fuel use.
Emissions are quoted from 115 g/km for the Bigster and from 117 g/km for the Duster, depending on version and equipment. Dacia also estimates running-cost savings of up to 40% in certain conditions, primarily reflecting LPG’s potential price advantage over gasoline.
The Tribrid 150 4×4 already appears in Dacia’s online configurations for both SUVs, with estimated deliveries listed for September. The renamed system positions LPG, electrified urban running and 4×4 traction as a single package, though final availability and delivery timing can vary by market.
