Honor has introduced two detachable telephoto lenses for its Magic9 phone lineup, led by the G500, an accessory that extends the Magic9 Pro Max to a 500 mm equivalent focal length. The company says the combined system can shoot at equivalent zoom levels of up to 14,000 mm.
The G500 multiplies the Magic9 Pro Max’s native 85 mm telephoto focal length by 5.88x. Honor is positioning the accessory for distant subjects such as sports, concerts and wildlife, placing it beyond the roughly 400 mm teleconverters previously seen on rival phones.
The G200 is the more compact option. It delivers a 200 mm equivalent focal length and measures about 81 mm long while weighing 88 g. Honor says it is intended for portraits, close-ups and moderate-distance photography, and it works with both the Honor Magic9 and Magic9 Pro Max.
The accessories build on the Magic9 Pro Max’s camera hardware, which Honor developed with ARRI. Its rear camera array includes:
- A 200 MP main camera with a 1/1.28-inch sensor, f/1.57 aperture, 24 mm equivalent focal length and gimbal-style stabilization.
- A 200 MP telephoto camera with a 1/1.4-inch sensor, f/2.6 aperture and native 85 mm equivalent focal length.
- A 50 MP ultrawide camera with a 12 mm equivalent focal length.
Honor’s announcement details the optics and device compatibility, but does not specify pricing or market availability for either detachable lens.
