Apple Music is moving away from the red app icon that has long defined the service, adopting a stripped-back black-and-white identity instead. The refreshed branding has appeared on Apple’s official website and in iOS 27.2 and macOS 27.2 beta builds, with a wider release expected alongside the stable software updates.
The most visible changes in the latest iOS 27.2 beta affect the Music app’s icon and interface.

- The standard app icon now shows a black musical note on a white background instead of a white note on red.
- In Dark Mode, the icon’s colors are inverted.
- The interface adds blue accent colors.
- Music widgets use black backgrounds.
Apple has also revised the Apple Music wordmark with heavier, more tightly spaced lettering. The Apple symbol is smaller, while “music” appears in lowercase. A video titled “Made by Sound” outlines the creative work behind the identity, using vibrations produced by sound in water to create fluid visual effects.
For now, the redesign appears to be a branding and interface update rather than a feature expansion for the streaming service. Apple has not confirmed a final release date for iOS 27.2 and macOS 27.2, which are expected to carry the new look to stable builds.
