Huawei is rolling out new cycling tools for the Watch GT 7 and Watch GT 7 Pro through HarmonyOS 7, including estimated lactate threshold and Functional Threshold Power (FTP) calculated from virtual power. The update is intended to give riders training reference points without requiring a dedicated bicycle power meter.
Lactate threshold marks the exercise intensity at which lactate accumulates faster than the body can process it, while FTP estimates the power a cyclist can sustain for roughly an hour. Both figures are training estimates: the watch does not directly analyze blood lactate or measure power through a dedicated sensor.
Version 7.0.0.109, reported as an approximately 158 MB package, began appearing globally on October 14. Beyond the new cycling features, the recent HarmonyOS 7 releases bring changes across audio controls, notes and the watch interface.
- Audio Connect adds headphone management from the watch.
- Notes now support text input.
- The control panel gains an Always On Display shortcut.
- The Emotional Wellbeing app receives Fluffy and Starry Nebula themes.
- Huawei has refreshed the workout-history and calculator screens, added visual effects for watch faces and recent apps, and included stability optimizations.
