Acer’s Vero 16 is built around a more serviceable laptop design, with a tool-free bottom cover that gives owners direct access to the battery and PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD. Both parts can be replaced by the user, while separate sections around the ports are intended to limit the amount of chassis that must be removed when a connector area is damaged.
The company is also promising a processor upgrade path spanning at least two generations, an unusual commitment for a thin consumer notebook. Acer has not yet explained how those CPU upgrades will work, or which parts of the platform will be replaceable as part of the process. The external hinge is detachable as well.
At launch, the Vero 16 will use Intel Core Ultra Series 3 Panther Lake processors, topping out at a Core Ultra X9 388H with Intel Arc B390 graphics in higher-end configurations. Acer rates the system at up to 180 TOPS of total AI performance.
The 16-inch OLED display will be available with up to a 2880 x 1800 resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, 400 nits of brightness and full DCI-P3 color coverage. Other listed hardware includes up to 32GB of LPDDR5X memory, a 71Wh battery, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.6, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, two USB-A ports, HDMI 2.1 and an SD card reader.
Acer says the chassis uses recycled aluminum and lower-carbon materials, and that the laptop has undergone MIL-STD-810H testing. The Vero 16 is scheduled to go on sale in December 2026, with configurations varying by market. Acer has not announced pricing, and the practical details of its multi-generation processor upgrade plan remain the key unanswered question.
