Grand Theft Auto VI could reach PC earlier than some players expect, according to an industry rumor, but Rockstar Games has not announced a PC version or provided a release window beyond its confirmed console launch on November 19, 2026.
Andy Robinson of VGC has reportedly indicated that there are signs of a faster-than-expected PC release. As reported by Notebookcheck, the claim does not include a date, a launch window or confirmation that Rockstar has changed its platform plans.
The timing matters because console hardware pricing and availability could limit the audience for one of Rockstar’s biggest launches. Sony raised PS5 prices in April, while PS5 Pro availability has also become tighter ahead of GTA 6. In the UK, PS5 sales rose 33% during the week of GTA 6’s extended presentation, underlining the game’s potential to drive console demand despite current prices.
Rockstar’s recent PC release history points to a substantial wait. Grand Theft Auto V launched on consoles in September 2013 before arriving on PC in April 2015, a gap of roughly 19 months. Red Dead Redemption 2 reached consoles in October 2018 and PC in November 2019, taking just over a year. Applying those timelines to GTA 6 would suggest a PC launch somewhere between late 2027 and mid-2028.
Former Rockstar producer John Ricchio has said the company’s console-first approach is rooted in development practicality: fixed console hardware is simpler to target before adapting a game to the wide range of PC configurations. Higher console prices may make an earlier PC port more commercially appealing, but they would not remove the optimization work required.
For now, GTA 6 is officially scheduled only for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026. Whether Rockstar shortens its usual PC gap remains an unresolved question until the studio formally adds the platform to its release plans.
