Honor has unveiled the Magic9 Pro Max in China as the first “Pro Max” model in its flagship lineup. The phone puts imaging at the center of its pitch, combining two 200MP rear cameras with ARRI-developed video features, while also carrying an 8,800mAh battery.
Camera system and video tools
The main camera uses a 200MP OmniVision OV52A sensor in a 1/1.28-inch format, with an f/1.57 aperture and optical image stabilization. Its periscope telephoto counterpart also has a 200MP resolution, using a 1/1.4-inch Samsung sensor and an f/2.6 aperture. Honor rates stabilization on both cameras at CIPA 8.0.

ARRI’s contribution is focused on video. The Magic9 Pro Max supports the Log C3 curve for footage intended for post-production, as well as a color-rendering mode inspired by ARRI cinema cameras. Honor’s H1 imaging chip is part of the imaging pipeline, and the phone includes a dedicated directional microphone designed to prioritize sound coming from in front of the camera.
Honor is also preparing a separate photography kit for distant subjects, with G200mm and G500mm teleconverters and a four-LED flash.
Display, hardware and build
The handset has a 6.8-inch LTPO OLED display with a 2,868 × 1,320-pixel resolution, up to a 120Hz refresh rate, Dolby Vision support and 4,320Hz PWM dimming. Honor quotes 10,000 nits of local peak brightness and 2,000 nits for the full panel; the higher figure applies to a limited area of the screen rather than sustained full-screen output.

- Audio and connectivity: dual speakers, two nano-SIM slots and support for two eSIMs
Honor has replaced the centered circular camera island used on earlier generations with a wide rear camera module. The Magic9 Pro Max measures 8.59mm thick and weighs 233g, with IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings. It will be offered in Moss Green, Glacier Silver and Shadow Black.
The phone runs MagicOS 11. Honor has opened orders in China, but has not confirmed pricing or availability for other markets.
