Apple’s reportedly planned iPhone 20 redesign could replace the familiar rear camera layout with a horizontal bar stretching across nearly the phone’s full width. Renders attributed to leaker Jon Prosser show the standard model with two cameras embedded in the bar and the flash positioned at the opposite end, a configuration that closely resembles Google’s Pixel design language.
The images were published by Android Headlines based on Prosser’s video report, but the device is associated with a 2027 launch and its design remains unconfirmed. The reported camera treatment may also be limited to the standard iPhone 20: Pro variants could retain the larger camera platform used on recent Apple models.
Prosser also claims Apple will move away from the flat frame popularized with the iPhone 12, bringing back rounded sides and more curved glass. That would align with separate rumors pointing to a softer, more curved industrial design for Apple’s 2027 anniversary-generation iPhone.
The report extends to internal hardware, naming a silicon-carbon battery and an A21 Pro processor built by TSMC on a 2nm process. Silicon-carbon battery technology is already used by a number of Chinese phone makers to raise capacity without a proportional increase in battery volume. For Apple, the resulting space could support either longer battery life or a thinner handset, though neither outcome has been confirmed.
2027 marks two decades since the original iPhone, and Apple is rumored to be considering the iPhone 20 name rather than iPhone 19 for the anniversary release. The company used the iPhone X to mark the first decade in 2017; whether this reported camera-bar redesign reaches the final product will likely remain unclear until much closer to the expected 2027 launch.
